Friday I dragged my friend Cindy to go see the movie Fame. Now I know I am showing my age but when I was a school girl (are those the words that show my age or watching the show Fame 29 years ago??) I LOVED that show! Actually one of my favorites and I never missed an episode! So the day it came out I knew I HAD to go! Cindy was not as big of a fan and humored me by going but she made it clear that I better not sing...I kept my promise although my feet were tapping a little and I was singing on the inside....sorry Cindy!
One of the lines in the movie, and I totally paraphrase here, was something like this...."When you wake up in the morning and you can hardly wait to get out the door to do what you do....that's success! When you LOVE the people you work with....that's success!" Although I know this is a worldly view (and I don't have to leave my house to do it!) I couldn't help but think...hhhmm I am totally successful! I sometimes beat myself up because I do not always live up to my potential when it comes to my Stampin' Up! business...but according to these last statements. I AM Successful and like the Stampin' Up! statement of the heart says LOVE what you do and share what you LOVE...for me that's totally true. I LOVE what I do and I LOVE sharing what I LOVE with you! Thank you for encouraging me along the way with your comments whether on my blog or in person. It's greatly appreciated!
I want to share today about the people I get to work with. Yesterday I had a get together with my fellow demonstrators. I LOVE them! We have such a great time together, stamping and laughing and sharing. We held a shoebox swap creating holiday cards. I Loved it! Here are a few of the girls hard at work stamping and visiting.
Here are just a few of the cards we got to put together. They were ALL so great! Did I mention the level of talent in our group? I love being inspired by this group. They are always teaching me something new! It's awesome.
Aren't they great! Wow! We even got the pleasure of meeting our newest Stampin' Sista.....little Lily! She is only 1 month old and she came to visit and meet us. Here she is with Meg my upline. Lilly's mama, Leslie is in orange in the picture above. We had fun holdng her. I even got to feed her lunch! What a pleasure that was! She is such a little peanut and I look forward to seeing her grow!
Here is a close up of the card I made for the swap. The striped paper is our Bride paper which I brayered with real red. The glossy part of the paper resists the ink so you can color it any of our 48 colors and you change it to coordinate with any project. I can't wait to play with the other pattern in that pack. It's swirly and I think it will be so much fun to use! I love that this paper comes with 5 sheets of each of the 2 designs. It's not only for weddings as you can see!
I had to use the dasher stamp (one of our under $10 stamps) because...well, it's a deer and since our family is in the "deer" business I had to have it! Ok so we do Custom Deer Processing it's not quite as nice and cute and frankly....as clean as this stamp but it's still working with deer. And they're Whitetail not Reindeer...but besides that it could be similar couldn't it? I still have a thing for DEER! LOL
I added a little glitz to my deer "antlers" with a 2-way glue pen and some dazzling diamonds. The light caught it just right in this pic.
You might wonder how I got the piece punched for the greeting. I added that at the end and nothing we had fit the stamp I wanted to use as is so I did a little investigating and came up with this idea. It's a great way to use any size greeting length or width and get finished ends.
If you make your strip of paper just a little wider you get a very cool shoulder on your punch. It was too big to use on this card but it's something I plan on using in the near future. I finished it off with a dot from my white signo gel pen. These are absolutely the BEST white gel pens I have ever tried and trust me I have tried A LOT in the past! I can use the Stampin' Up! Gel pens until they are completely gone. Usually a gel pen is good for a couple uses and then it dries up, not these. I have about 8 or 10 of them to use in my classes and I use them all until they are used up and they NEVER dry up!
Well, I hope you enjoyed listening to my success story. Take a minute to enjoy your successes! GO STAMP SOMETHING!
